Apothecary Theatre Company's Development Series
Our primary goal as a theater company is to seek out new authors and bring their plays onto the social and artistic platform of the community, both regionally and nationally. Since its inception in February of 2008, Apothecary has since established itself as a company devoted to the development of unpublished plays. In the highly competitive industry of independent theater companies, Apothecary is focusing on original works rather than revivals and re-stagings. Through their Development Series, they are working with new playwrights by way of public staged readings in order to gain support for specific projects and expand audiences' knowledge of the theatrical process of a play. The series will highlight the creative journey of a play beginning with the pen and paper all the way to the stage, culminating in a world premiere production in New York City.
Our first staged reading of In God's Hat by Richard Taylor recently finished its incredible four-week run Off Broadway at The Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Playwrights Horizons in August of 2010. Apothecary believes we can keep unveiling new and exciting voices of the American theater after the success of our first Development Series project. We are always looking for submissions of unpublished works. For submission information, please email us at info@apothecarytheatrecompany.org.
